I have an issue. when i upload the image and its not rotated properly, I edit original, rotate it, then save it, and it seems to be in the right orientation, but once you preview it, it goes back to the horizontal plane.

    Any suggestions?

I had this EXACT same issue just 3 days ago as well. I am using the Virtue Theme for building by 2nd website and like it so far. SO on this second website I had the pages complete with photos and they all looked great on the ‘viewing’ side and I’m just getting ready to launch the site and putting on the ‘finishing’ touches and now no matter what browser I ‘view’ the ‘front’ side of my website in as it is not ‘live’ yet, something happened ‘behind the scenes’ either with WordPress itself, or with the ‘Virtue Theme’, because now Several of my images have somehow ‘Rotated themselves into different positions’.
I have done nothing to alter anything in the Theme or with WordPress OR with any of those photos. The entire site looked great 3 days ago; ‘coincidentally’ the ‘same’ day you are writing your post as experiencing the same issue.
Can anyone help us by explaining a ‘fix’ in a simple, not too technical way?
Is this a ‘bug’? how can it be fixed easily?
This is really frustrating. ?? Thank you!

I’m having the same rotation issue too.
Uploaded images to WP. Edit originals in library, rotate & save.
Looks correctly oriented in edit, but in preview and published posts the image reverts back to it’s old (incorrect) orientation.
I’m using the Basil theme by Boxy Studios. I’ve contacted them but as yet have not heard back.
Obviously we can’t ‘go live’ until this is fixed.
    I’m using WP 4.3.1
    Any ideas?
