HI!- I am building my 2nd website ever using Virtue Theme and need some help on some issues that popped up 4 days ago.
    * I am a beginner, not ‘techie’ at all, creative type, learning all of this from ground up.
Started and am still using the 2.5.4 Virtue Free version and had most all of my site done and looking fantastic and went back to put ‘finishing touches’ on it, and Voila, several of the Images in my ‘Image Gallery’ and several on pages where I set them as ‘Featured Image’ has mysteriously rotated themselves into new undesirable positions.
I had not worked on the site for a few days and went to work on it and here is this issue.
Have not touched the WordPress settings, my Virtue has NOT been updated to the 2.5.6 version which came out DURING the build of my site because I have no idea what a Child Theme is or how to use it, and I have not touched any of my images.
Everything was beautiful and I was very excited to launch the site and now I cannot do this with the images lying in those positions.
Please can you tell me how to fix this?
    Thank you-

Hi Andrew, I sent you the link to that Image Gallery page via email. Did you receive it? ??
On the back side-‘Dashboard’ in WordPress all of the images look perfect. perfectly oriented. perfect the way they are displayed. perfect in dimensions, pixels, etc.
It is ONLY on the side that everyone will see them on; the Viewing side that they are all turned in weird directions and in odd dimensions and pixelations.
So of course one would ‘assume’ that they would ‘appear’ the same way on the actual site.
Can you help me with this issue that started 4 days ago?
    Thank you:-)

    worshipthecoconuttree,
I explained in one of your other posts about updating. Please go ahead and do so. Then provide a link if this issue is still happening.

    Hello-

Ok as mentioned, as a complete beginner in building websites and having spent quite a bit of time taking on this new endeavor, I really need some clear answers regarding your direction to ‘Updating’ my website WHILE IT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION AND THE ‘NEWER’ Version of the Virtue Theme came out.
This copy/paste is from my WordPress Dashboard so understandably I am a bit concerned about doing the Theme update during the build.
    Plugins

Your plugins are all up to date.

    Themes

The following themes have new versions available. Check the ones you want to update and then click “Update Themes”.

Please Note: Any customizations you have made to theme files will be lost. Please consider using child themes for modifications.

    Update Themes

    Select All

    Virtue
You have version 2.5.4 installed. Update to 2.5.6.

**I do NOT know how to make a Child Theme.
I just am learning how to do all of this from using WordPress, the Virtue Theme, what all of these acronyms mean, and building the actual site. I am not a techie at all.
I am really struggling with the 6 issues I have posted help for ‘separately’ in different ‘topic’ forums as per the protocol here on www.remarpro.com -so please let me know how or if there is a way I can easily step by step fix them in order to get this site nice looking enough to launch to my viewers.
Nice patient person who can help me do this in a timely manner is most appreciated ??
    Thank you

Here are some great tutorials: https://leveluptuts.com/tutorials/wordpress-basics
I suggest starting there and learning about wordpress.

Your issue with images sounds like a file issue. One where you have uploaded files that could be missing orientation code, It can easily show the right orientation because wordpress is reading it correctly but then a browser my read it incorrectly. I suggest re-saving your images and then re-uploading one as a test to see if that is your issue.

Please post a link here and we can take a look at your issue. Thanks!

    I have similar issue.
Uploaded an image, same orientation as all previous. Shows in media library as correct orientation, also in shop, on clicking that product, the image is then rotated on its side.
The only new thing I have done is use the Virtue Toolbox, would this cause the issue?
I deleted and reloaded the image, still same. Cleared cache and viewed on different browsers and devices and all showing same issue.
    What do you advise?

    Hey,
Just to try and bring more clarity. The theme doesn’t decide orientation of an image. Browser do that, if the file is in some way missing the orientation information then the browser guesses.

When you click on an image you are seeing the original uploaded file in the Lightbox where as in the media library and everything else your seeing a resized version, when the file is resized the orientation information is saved in the file even if the orignial didn’t have it correct.

My guess is that you just need to re-save your file. It’s also a good thing to compress it so I would suggest just using this site to do it: https://compressjpeg.com/

    I hope that helps clarify.

How does one set the orientation then within the theme? I want the browser to stop guessing. Why guess with just those 2 images, not all the rest.
I have already deleted and reloaded and no change.

    Hey,
Sorry, I’m not explaining well.. It’s not something with the theme.. You can’t set in the theme.

It has to do solely with the image file. You would need to recreate this image file. Which you can do by using https://compressjpeg.com/

Just upload the image there, then download the compressed version and upload that to your site instead, should then work.

Hi That worked! Thank you for that and also for the quick replies.
