Image padding as wide as the column

Hi!
I have a section with 2 columns. Inside one of the columns, I inserted an image (300px width) and added 10px padding all around it and border box shadow.
The problem is that there’s a lot of extra white space (padding?) added to the left and the right between the image and the shadow. Which looks weird.
How do I fix this?
