• Hi,

    WordPress 5.2 running Primer theme.

    Running PHP version: 7.2.15

    Prevent Direct Access Version 2.5.0.2

Running Paid Memberships pro plugin Version 2.0.5.

When I protect image file, yes it returns 404 when try to enter image url into address bar, that is good. However, when I click on the image in media it shows no image, and, most importantly it does not show image on membership only page anymore. I stopped protecting the image but it still does not show in media or page, and still returns 404 error when trying to access it through address bar. My main goal is to not allow people to access image files (in wp-content/uploads) to anyone via url in the address bar, but still allow paying members to see the images on the membership pages. Also, if I stop protecting the image the thumbnail reverts back to showing but clicking the image in media, the image doesn’t show. Also, if I revert back to unprotected it should continue to show the image on the page, but it doesn’t. Your plugin has been a sign of hope, I’ve been trying to find a solution to protecting my images from entering them in the url address bar, but still being able to see them on my website. Will definitely invest in gold version if this works.

Ok so waited a few minutes and image reverted back to showing in media, on page, and on address url. And now I can confirm that protecting the file shows the image on my webpage but does not allow it to be accessed via direct url on address bar. Still can’t see the thumbnail or picture in media though. My customers depend on seeing my images (on the webpages only, and not through direct url where they can download them) – I have plugin that prevents right click and download image on my website – I need to be certain that if I protect the files, that paying members can still see them on my webpages. Can you affirm that this behavior won’t happen and that the images on my webpages will still show (while denying access to them via url). Thanks

    Hello @fvelmntnja12 ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

Just to confirm, you’re using our Free version, aren’t you?

Once a file is protected using our Free version, its File Access Permission is set to “no one” by default. You can change this with our Prevent Direct Access (PDA) Gold

    To achieve what you want:
    1. Prevent direct URL access to your images with our PDA Gold
    2. Allow those images to be accessible on your webpages with our Private Magic Links

Hope it answers your questions. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

I am interested in getting PDA Gold. So I have I want paid members to be able to access the image on the site yes, but even paid members (or anybody) I do not want to be able to access via url on address bar. So yes I want “no one” to be able to access the image via url on address bar, but in that case will Paid subscribed users be able to view the image on my website? I have no right click or copy enabled on my website so the images are not for downloading just viewing. If I’m using PDA Gold, why do I need to additionally have to get Private Magic Links so that paid members can see my images on my website, and not be able to view on url address bar? Is there a way to do this just using PDA Gold? Thanks
