• First time using the plugin and first auto publish of a post.

I had to reduce the Twitter character limit as the first two attempts resulted in an error –

    {“errors”:[{“code”:186,”message”:”Tweet needs to be a bit shorter.”}]}

    – it succeeded with 257 characters set. Why?

I’m using {POST_TITLE} - {PERMALINK} - {POST_EXCERPT} and ‘Attach image to twitter post’ set to YES, but there’s no photo or link to one. The post (Whisky Chaser) has a default WP gallery of photos.

    Link to tweet

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • That is not a common issue, the plugin check for the character limit before it published to twitter, earlier the limit was 140 n twitter doubled it recently. There is an option Twitter character limit in the settings page with value 280 (set as default).
I just checked your twitter account, there were preview images,so i hope that the image issue is solved?
When you tweet the plugin will short the content so that it will be within this character limit, the link occupy 23 characters in your tweet thats why it succeeded with 257 characters.
This checking is working for others as well as for us, If it doesn’t work for you then it might be an issue, please let us check this. Contact our support if issue persist.
    Thank you for the support.

I think the problem is I don’t have a twitter account and am looking at a desktop version that doesn’t display properly. I’ve got someone to do a screen grab and I can see the preview image. So I think it’s all working fine.

I suggest on the settings page that if a link is involved you explain that you need to set the character limit to 257 to allow for it. Took me a while to work it out.
Either that or get the plugin to count the link characters as well.

    Thanks

No,That is not an issue, the plugin check for the character limit before it published to twitter and the exceeded characters are stripped and dots are appended at the end and it count the link characters also,i don’t know why it’s not working for you.
    Thank you for your feedback.

I was just going by what you said previously:

When you tweet the plugin will short the content so that it will be within this character limit, the link occupy 23 characters in your tweet thats why it succeeded with 257 characters.

Ya,but you not need to set the character limit to 257 to allow for it. The plugin will do this internally. Twitter wrap link with t.co,so the character limit may vary when appear as tweet, but as far as the plugin is concerned,it make the tweet content to 280 limit(or the custom character limit set by you) even if it contain link.
