• So I upload an image, use it in a post, then go back to add the description, alt text, etc. But then when I check the webpage the image is on, none of this data comes through. I know this is the way WP is designed to work by default. I’m trying to find a plugin to fix this so I don’t have to delete and re-add all my pictures on every page/post/etc. they’re used on if one of my co-workers or myself make any changes/corrections/updates to their meta-data. I’ve been trying to search for something to help, but I’m not having any luck.

Or if you know of an image widget that would always pull the meta-data from the library when it displays the image, that would work too.

  • You have to add those before you “insert” the image into the post.

When you use the Media Uploader from within a Post, once the image is uploaded and in the Media Library, there are boxes on the right (when the image is the “selected” one) that is where you enter your alt text, description etc.

Below that is where you choose if you want the image linked to anything or not, and what size to insert.

Once you have all of that filled out, THEN you (click the button to) insert the photo.

I said I know this is the way WP is designed to work by default. I need something that fixes this problem.

What if then later someone realizes there was a typo in the description or caption of that photo and we’ve used it on multiple pages? Or for example recently we switched which brand we are pushing the most, so a bunch of images each appearing on multiple pages has to be switched out, but that were still in all same places on those pages. It would be faster to simply replace the photos in the media library and update their meta data from there.
