If I upload a new file (with the same file name) and click “Just replace the file” the old file will appear again after this process. The same if the file has a different file name.

If I click “Replace the file…” with a file with the same file name, it doesn’t work either.

The only one that works, is to click “Replace…” and uplaod a file with a different file name.

    That’s all pretty strange.

I made a screencast of this: Cast

Hi guys, thanks for your message.

Could you please have a look at the following article? It should answer your questions: https://help.shortpixel.com/article/158-in-enable-media-replace-the-image-isnt-replaced-why.

    Thank you,

How can this issue be marked as resolved? We have the same exact issue and it is nothing about caching. On the linked page there is a vague recommendation that if it is not a caching problem then it is a bug and you should downgrade (which in itself is a very strange advice) without saying to which version to downgrade even.

Normally I wouldn’t complain about a free plugin or the response, but we are also paying customers for other products by Shortpixel and we don’t get any useful feedback to help us resolve this issue.

    Hi Antal,

    Thank you,

Thanks Gerard, I have just done that.

I had the same issue, even though I have no caching plugins. It turns out my host has supercacher running automatically on all my wordpress installations. Now, when I am doing work on the site, I just disable the supercacher for that site until I am done, then turn it back on. I have to go to my host’s CPanel to do this and can’t be done through WP admin dashboard.

It also helps to clear the browser cache if not updating content, but I found it was the host’s caching on the backend that was my main issue.

Okay, in my case it seems to be a caching issue, too. Generally it seems works better in chrome than in firefox.

But meanwhile it works better at all and often I don’t need to clear any cache. Perhaps a combination of several updates of WP and other plugins this month? Effectively that can’t be – but who knows…

    Thank you, Gerard
