Image in sidebar howto (classic) ?

I use the classic theme. I want to customise the sidebar with a picture of the main author and then point to a biography webpage. Can somebody give me an example syntax of how to insert an image and next to that a link to some webpage, all this as part of the sidebar for classic theme ?.
