Image in post which is not in Media Library

  • My site has many race courses. Each post is a separate event, and may have one to 5 courses, with files for each course, plus a jpg of the course map.

    I need to keep them organized and separate, so I can’t just dump all maps into the Media Library. But, I can’t find how to place into a post, an image that is not in the Media Library.

    Site is rmeasure.dreamhosters.com. Path to a good page is: https://rmeasure.dreamhosters.com/airlife-memorial-10k-5k/. The site was set up by a “professional”, and he just copied my old site content and pasted into the new post. So, what he created links to my old site, I believe. I am making new posts, and I can’t find how to get images on my host’s server into my posts. My images are in a directory (I FTP the files and images to my host) /home/duanecrussell/rmeasure.dreamhosters.com/Races/AirLife/[image files]. This path is only to show how I have my organizational files set up. The AirLife images are in the same directory structure, but I can’t find how to edit the path to the image for new courses.

    How do I place the image which is NOT in the Media Library, in a post, so that the jpg is displayed in the post, and is not a hyperlink?

  • There is a difference between a page and a post. Is that link you included a page? Is …../Races/AirLife/AirLife5KMap.gif an example of what you want to post? Are you experienced with WordPress, PHP, plugins and themes?

    No, I have no experience in WordPress. I hired a professional to move my Dreamweaver site to WordPress. He is not responsive to my questions, so I am trying to figure it out myself. I need to have it go-live in a month, as my old hosting plan expires, and I don’t want to renew.

    So, he took all my old pages, and put each of them into its own Post. He uploaded all of my old pages into my Website folder structure, independent of WordPress. Somehow, though, he has the map images appearing in each Post.

    I have not been able to get the image to appear in my new Post, but I have everything else working.

    So, the path in my initial forum post shows my “development” site, and the Post he created.

    My currently-live site has the similar page at racemeasure.com/races/airlife. My fear is, my “new” site is pointing to my old site, but I can’t get any confirmation from the Web programmer.
