• Hi guys.
I seem to be having a bit of an issue with my images staying aligned in my post editor and the caption information disappears. When I upload the image, add the caption information and click align right it shows perfectly in the post editor to begin with like this image https://sheppadviser.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screen-Shot-2015-06-03-at-4.20.10-pm.png
However, when I post the story the page refreshes and the image seems to be align none and the caption information is gone and this is also what it shows on the page. I have an image of what the post editor looks like after here https://sheppadviser.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/Screen-Shot-2015-06-03-at-4.19.45-pm.png

I did a search in the forum to find a fix for this issue and while I found many people with the same problem, none of their solutions worked for me such as adding wordpress core css styling like “.alignleft {float:left}” etc…

I have managed to find a temporary fix, which involves me uploading the image, selecting alignment and adding the caption information and then once it uploads into the visual editor panel, I click the text panel and then back to the visual panel, click on the image to edit it, align it right again and copy the caption information back into the caption area and then it stays right aligned with the caption information.

Can anybody please help me with this issue or know why it is happening.

    My site is https://www.sheppadviser.com.au

    Thanks to all in advance.
    Regards,
    David

  • Please can you do a test post with an image and caption right aligned correctly in the editor, then post the url here. I understand the live page will be aligned left incorrectly but I would be interested to look at the styles in this situation.

    Hi Lorro,
The link you asked for is https://www.sheppadviser.com.au/alignment-problems/
If you can have a look as quickly as possible so as I can take it down it would be greatly appreciated.

I wondered if the right-float was being overwritten by a subsequent style but that’s not so. Your page markup is quite different from a similar test post on my dev site.

I see that you are using version 1.1 of your theme but version 1.2 is available. Version 1.2 has WordPress 3.8 compatibility so consider updating. Captions came out with WordPress 3.9 so it looks like they weren’t around when 1.2 was released. Even the 1.2 release is quite old in theme terms. The popular themes issue updates every month or so at the moment. Have you tried switching themes to be able to rule out a theme issue.

Unlikely but you could also try temporarily deactivating all plugins to check none are responsible.

If you get to the point where you have only your theme version 1.2 and no plugins and still have the problem, and so it looks like a theme problem, consider asking your theme vendor about this. It looks like the theme is still being offered for sale and that it comes with free on-going support.
