Image in an article using container width instead of article width?

    I’m customizing a theme and the current situation is as follows:

    I have a container div (width 998px) and inside this I have an article div (width 750px) for the pages.

    What I want to do is posting images on a page that have a width of 998px (just like the container) while the text inside the article still stays at 750px width. So for the images I want to override the article width.

    Does anyone have a suggestion how you can override the article width for the images inside the article?
