• Hi, we have a website at https://www.alysinkyfingers.co.uk it was built by someone else and we have had no end of problems with it, mainly due to the way the shop part was set up, i am now building a new site offline using wamp. What i want to know is there a way of getting the shop images (not the blog ones) of the old site and onto the new one? or do i have to start afresh which would be a huge task as there are 1000s of them.Would prefer to leave the old site running as it is until the new one is ready. I am using woocommerce on the new site and the Fruitful Theme. Any suggestions would be most helpful, but please bear in mind while not exactly a novice im no expert by any means. Mark

  • The images on the old site are all stored in files on the old website, their names are in the database, but the images are not.
I have checked a handful of images, they are either in:
    /wp-content/uploads
    /wp-content/gallery

Suggest that you download all the images under these directories.
Filezilla is an excellent FTP program to do this.

I would suggest that you make a local copy of the oldsite, so that you can still refer to it after your newsite has gone live. The plugin DUPLICATOR is highly regarded in this regard.

If you have not already installed a browser inspector then do this now, it will become you best friend when reviewing your old site, finding images etc. If you are using firefox then this would be firebug, each browser has its own equivalent addon.
