• Hi,

I have read all the other posts/discussions about this and I have changed my folder permissions to 777.

I still get this message when trying to upload an image.

“gravatar_MP.jpg” has failed to upload due to an error
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads/2014/04.

The interesting thing is that when I FTP to the folder, the image is actually there but it doesn’t show up in the Media Library nor can I put it in a post.

I can create posts and pages so that part of WP works and says to me that the db is working and I can write to it.

Does anyone have any ideas on this?

    Thanks!

  • It “might” be the issue?

I’m pretty sure that this is your issue. ??

Can I ask who the hosts are?

I saw another post with this being the problem but the host had never said there was a storage overage so I didn’t even think that could be it.

Argh – days wasted trying to figure this out for my client.

Hopefully now they will move away from ^ and get a serious host.

Thanks for all your help and ideas.

    Sincerely appreciate it.

Well, I’m glad to hear that you got to the bottom of this, anyway. ??

    Hold on!

    That can’t be it.
The files uploaded to the server every time I added one.
The problem is that the db wasn’t recognizing it in WP.

If the files were getting stored on the server, then the storage couldn’t be the issue as they were being placed on the server.

If storage was the issue, then the files wouldn’t have been allowed to hit the server at all …. right??

The files uploaded to the server every time I added one.

The site was also 382 meg over its allocation. Given the (lack of) organisation with that host, I wouldn’t rule anything out. Most hosts cut you off dead as soon as you exceed your allocation and display suitable notices in your hosting management panel.

Anything useful in your site’s error logs?

Um – why is there an .htaccess file in your wp-content folder?

    That’s the weird thing.
    There isn’t one in there.

Might be worth asking the hosts about that. Not sure if it has anything to do with the image issue but it’s worth checking.
