When posting using my gmail account, I add an image into the post. No matter what settings I change or modify in Postie, the resulting post on my website shows the filename eg., [image: 20190817_154009.jpg]

I’ve tested this 15+ times using and/or removing settings without success. Is this something embedded in gmail emails? Can I remove it? I’ve left a test up on the page to show what is happening.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated.

  • I do not use gmail.

Does the filename show in the sent gmail text?

Do you attach the image in the gmail text box or as an attachment? This makes a difference for me.

My email adds unwanted text also. Did you try the start and end of message settings? (Can be found under postie settings “message”). In your case something like .jpg] for start message

If you only just need the image: https://postieplugin.com/downloads/image-only-addon/

If you want images and text, this might help: https://postieplugin.com/downloads/clean-html-addon/

The process I use is to create a new email, add my subject line for the post title, then drag and drop an image into the gmail itself, making sure I have no text within the email. These are tests only till I perfect the procedure before I put it’s use into production with my end user.

Thanks for your suggestions, I’ll experiment.

I switched it to HTML instead of plain text. That took care of it.
