Hi,

the speed test site (https://pagespeed.web.dev) showed me and deducted points for a small accessibility issue.

Text from diagnostics:

Image elements have attributes ([alt]) that are redundant text.
Informative elements should have short descriptive alt text. Alt text that is exactly the same as the text next to a link or image is confusing to screen reader users because it is read twice.

Spotify
< img decoding=”async” class=”lazy lazy-hidden secondline-psb-subscribe-img bv-tag-attr-replace” src=”https://emr6jzjch6o.exactdn.com/wp-content/plugins/a3- lazy-load/assets/ima…” data-lazy-type=”image” data-src=”https://emr6jzjch6o.exactdn.com/wp-content/plugins/podcast-subscribe-butto…” alt=”Spotify ” >

Screenshot from my website:

Would it be possible to change the text to “alt” in some update of the plugin? Or possibly change it so that by default it says, for example, the words alt=”playback service logo” or alt=”player company logo”?

So that it will be fine for screen readers as well, because they won’t show the same word twice in a row.

Thank you very much for your answer :).

Sincerely
Dominik Kozmáli

Hi @dominokozmali,

Thanks for using our plugin and for reaching out!
We currently don’t plan to remove the alt tag, but you can use the “Icon Only” mode in order to avoid having the duplicate values.

If needed, you can use custom JS to remove the alt tag but I don’t think it’s highly necessary.

Hi @secondlinethemes ,

Thank you very much again for the quick reply :).

Please, how should such a JS look like and where should I place it?

Thank you very much for your willingness.

With regards and respect

Hi Dominik!

I’m afraid we can’t provide the JS code to remove the text as it’s a little beyond the scope of the support we offer. You might need to contact a developer if you’re not familiar with JS in order to get the ALT out of some of the buttons.

Sorry I don’t have a better answer, but at the moment we’re not looking to remove ALT tags for those icons.

Hi @secondlinethemes , it’s a pitty, I thought it was just a few lines of code for you as the developer of the plugin, since you know your plugin. But I totally understand you.

I just wanted to make access easier for the disabled to make it easier for them to read the pages.

Sincerely, Dominik Kozmáli

Hi Dominik,

I understand, and I’m sorry we can’t help further but that’s a customization that’s beyond what we can help with. As mentioned, you can use the icon-only mode to get that fixed for now.

We’ll look into this in the future and perhaps implement the suggestion mentioned here if that would make sense.

Hi @secondlinethemes

It doesn’t matter, I already solved it through another plugin (Find and Replace) so Google PageSpeed ??no longer shows me an error.

Have a nice evening or day.

Dominik
