image display trouble with multisite
-
Hi ??
This seems to be a common issue and I’ve read and re-read the posts on the forums, trying out the different suggestions but I can’t seem to get this fixed… ??
(and yes, I did do a search and found quite a few people with the very same problem, followed all the suggestions but still not finding a solution….)really hoping someone will be able to point me in the right direction…. been going round in circles with this one forever and am not getting anywhere… :'(
The problem is with a WordPress multisite set up which I use for my clients, to show and discuss design mockups and iterations…
This setup works beautifully – I set up a new site for each client, with a custom login – and all works well — apart from one issue: broken image links….Here’s what I get:
all media files upload just fine, actual file path to uploaded file:
mysite.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2011/07/image.jpg
If I manually type in this URL – the image appears fine within the WP admin, as well as the public site.If I leave WP to take care of inserting the image into the post/page – the file path reads this instead (and entirely fails to show the image):
mysite.com/clientpreview-sitename/files/2011/07/image.jpgquick sum up of what I’ve done to try and get this solved:
- edited the .htaccess file as required (via Network Admin settings), doublechecked via codex
- edited the .htaccess file as suggested by various people on www.remarpro.com forums ~ results were either broken links, or no change at all (tested on previously uploaded images – as well as newly uploaded ones)
- edited and added additional details to the Network Admin Settings, for Upload Path and Upload URL Path ~ no change….
Here is a test setup I used for checking various different settings – showing one past with the image inserted twice, once via WP admin, once via manual typing of file path:

Thanks ??
