Image display on Fade

When the Effect is set to ‘Fade’ the images seem to stretch to fit the size of the slider, every other effect the smaller images tile vertically and horizontally.
Is this the expected result?
Any chance this could be made into an option?
Yes, tile image if is too small,
No, stretch image to fit
