My wordpress blog was running just fine and I could include images in postings OK, until at some point in time, perhaps because of a minor upgrade, I could not include images anymore. Old postings with images show as before. But when I now attempt to include an image in a new (or old) posting, the image shows in the edit field until I press Save or Save And Continue Editing. When I press one of those buttons, the visible image is replaced by a small text, from the image description.

Including a link to an uploaded image works fine.

WordPress version is 2.0.10 on Debian Linux. Because I would like to stay within the package maintainance system of Debian, I am reluctant to upgrade to 2.2 from a download from www.remarpro.com. I’d rather know if this is a known bug of 2.0.10, or if I have something else wrong or messed up.

I tried upgrading to wordpress 2.2.1, no improvement. The image menu is nicer, but it appears that it sees ‘images’ as ‘files’ instead, which get handled differently in wordpress.

I tried, with the old version 2.0.10, another browser, konqueror instead of iceweasel (debian version of firefox). Now images get inserted OK. But the visual editor is gone . . .
