I just switched to Siteground hosting and had optimization plugins (wp optimize and smush it) installed. I deactivated and deleted those plugins to switch over. My site was previously serving compressed webp images successfully using smush it. With the SG optimizer plugin, when I enable medium compression I get a loading screen that gets stuck on “COMPRESSING IMAGE 1 OF 185” and never budges. Any idea what’s up? I even re-installed smushit again and clicked “reset media library to factory settings” before deleting again to make sure it wasn’t conflicting but it’s still happening. My site is testing slower than it was prior to migrating to Siteground hosting now so I need to get it fixed ASAP or move back to my previous hosting provider. Thanks

    Hello @catiasteel,

Such an issue may appear due to some security plugin, custom function, or rules in your .htaccess file that is preventing the WordPress REST API from working properly. Alternatively, the WordPress cron that manages the compression process is timing out. In order to perform a proper investigation we will need your site URL.

If you need fast assistance, I would recommend creating a ticket from your SiteGround account where my colleagues from the technical support team will assist you as soon as possible.
