I’m having issues with a few images on this site. They are in a portfolio.

It is the strangest thing. When I upload the image, it looks normal in the uploader. But when I add it to the porfolio page it turns BRIGHT magenta. I’m used to minor color differences when dealing with the web, but this image is completely PINK. What’s even more odd is that when you look at the thumbnail in the main portfolio section, the colors are fine! But then when you click on the image itself, the actual portfolio page colors are way off.

I’ve been racking my brains trying to figure out what is causing this but I honestly have no idea. I thought maybe it was the color profile but it’s 8bit RGB just like all of the other images that are fine. I tried saving it as a JPG and a PNG and it didn’t do any good. Nothing I do will fix it. It’s driving me nuts because it’s only three images on the entire site. All of the other images have the same settings and they are fine.

I wanted to include screenshots to show the whole story but this forum doesn’t allow screenshots, so here’s the portfolio page:

The worst image that I’m having trouble with is “Island Angel” the image on the top right of the portfolio page (in slot #4)

See how the thumbnail looks fine, but then when you click on her she turns really, really saturated magenta?

Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone offer suggestions as to why the image is displaying this way for no apparent reason? Thank you in advance.

  • That is really strange, Your uploaded image when viewed directly is very red:

What program are you saving the photo in? Are you compressing the jpg?

That is really strange. I’m saving it with Photoshop CS6, just like I did with all of the others. The even stranger part is that when I tried to adjust the colors of the original manually to make it more blue/green/cyan and then upload it, it comes out even MORE magenta. I’m completely baffled, as nothing like this has ever happened before. And when I upload the same image through another avenue that is not WordPress, the colors are normal and fine. It seems to get ruined in the upload somehow.

The fact that the thumbnail looks normal is even weirder…. that’s the part that makes me completely lost.

Thanks for your response, by the way.

From within photoshop are you saving for web? Or just saving the image?
Are you using any plugins that would effect how wordpress uploads images?

and have you tried using a name without a symbol? Your copyright symbol in the name isn’t standard for web.

I was just saving it as a jpg, not using save for web.

But on the plus side, my partner figured it out!! I don’t know what he did but he said he fixed it! Thank you for the help. ??
