Image cache directory has not been created
-
I installed the Adaptive Images plugin, but it did not seem to work. When I used the Print Debug Info, it said ‘Image cache directory has not been created’. Am I doing something wrong?
Kind regards, John Niemeijer

Hello, there, and thanks for trying out our plugin!
You are not doing anything wrong, but perhaps there is a problem with the setup of your WordPress installation of server.
Could you send me all the contents of the debug area. I suspect some kind of file rights problem…
Thank you for your message. This is the content of the debug area:
PHP GD library is installed.
Image cache directory has not been created.
Installation .htaccess file is available.
/var/www/nlholl-qingyeshu/wordpress/current/.htaccess => -rw-r–r–

Hi there,
Having the same problem here too.
The directory didn’t create – so I manually added it.
Directory permissions are all 755 per wordpress standard
Thank you
These permissions are correct, you are right.
Have you tested the plugin from a mobile device? The directory will not be created until the image cache is requested for the first time!
(Meanwhile, I am working on a more thorough debugging log.)
Just tested from a mobile device – images are not displaying.
Host for this test site is GoDaddy – possibly there is a security or permission issue?
It is possible, but we must detect it first.
I have just commited the new version (0.3.5). It has some more detailed deubug information and some diagnostics, too. These should tell us what the problem is.
May I ask that you check it out and get back to me?
Hi there … here is the system information – minus the domain – I could not have all this information and the domain in a public forum.

I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience, but this bug is hidden deep down. I believe that it is some kind of configuration problem that will be easy to solve, once we spot it!

WP Video Lightbox v.1.7.5 by Tips and Tricks HQ, Ruhul AminSorry for not having any updates on this yet. I cannot seem to reproduce the problem. ?? Do you think you could completely uninstall the plugin and install it back again to make a clean check?
(I am working on a more elaborate debugging process right now, because it seems that the edge cases are quite a few. But I believe they can be tracked down!)
Hi there,
I deactivated and uninstalled and reinstalled. No change.
I also disabled all non-required plugins and no change.
Are there any PHP modules required for this that GoDaddy may not have installed or functions they block?
Later this week I will have a site on a different host I can test this on.
The only prerequisites are the PHP GD library and /wp-content/cache being writeable by Apache/PHP.
Also you may check the “Print debug” and “Print diagnostics” button in the settings page and show me the output.
If you want you may also tell me the url of your website with the plugin turned on!
Interesting – the debug information says the “Image cache directory has not been created” – but it has and it shows the correct permissions right below that statement
Debug info
? PHP GD library is installed.
? Image cache directory has not been created.
But this is probably because the cache has not been accessed yet.
After accessing your website from a mobile device the directory should be automatically created./home/content/17/10166417/html/######/wp-content/cache => drwxrwxr-x
? Installation .htaccess file is setup OK.
/home/content/17/10166417/html/######/.htaccess => -rw-r–r–

[“browser-cache”]=>

}Hmm, this is weird… The cache directory should be:
/home/content/17/10166417/html/######/wp-content/cache/adaptive-images
And not just:
/home/content/17/10166417/html/######/wp-content/cache
Have you tested this now with a real mobile device or a mobile device emulator like the one in Chrome Canary Developer Tools?
