• I’m trying to add screenshots to posts, via the image block in the WordPress editor. The images are 16:9 ish. But when I add them to an image block, they’re cropped and zoomed in so as to result in a tall-square 3:4ish image.

I’ve found some solutions for adding “full width” alignment options to the tools menu (to the tune of adding add_theme_support( ‘align-wide’ ); to functions.php, but I’m not looking for full width in the sense that I want the image to be the full width of the page. I still want it to be the same width as the text area. I just want the entire image to show, instead of a goofy 3:4 cropping of it.

    Any ideas?

  • Hi there,

Do you have a link to a post or page where this is happening so we can take a closer look? Have you noticed this happening on every photo, or just ones with that resolution?

    Suggestion:

I tried uploading an image with similar 16:9 specifications and didn’t immediately have that issue:

However, while playing with the block settings, I noticed something similar to what you described appeared when I selected “thumbnail” as one of the options:

Try clicking the image, scrolling down, and seeing if the image is set to “thumbnail” or a different size — if it is, change it and see if that does the trick.

Otherwise, send us an example of the page, your theme and possibly any plugins you have been experimenting with, and we’ll be happy to take a closer look!

    Hi Sara

Wow. I’m such a noob. I didn’t even see the other options in the right sidebar.

I selected “Full Size,” instead of large, and it fixed the issue.

    Thank you!
