• Hello, I uploaded the image first in the library. Then I created the post with the same name as the image file name and make that image a featured image. Now, that image and the post shares the same permalink. Do this affects SEO? Do this cause any problem to my site? What’s the best; to upload image first in the library or to upload after creating post?

  • Typically, an image would be located under /wp-content/uploads/perhaps-some-year/ and would also have a file extension, like filename.jpg

If you really have two conflicting resources on exactly the same URL, then you’ve got a problem, because your website wouldn’t be able to know which content to serve when that particular URL is requested.

From SEO point of view, it doesn’t really matter in which order to added stuff to your site. Much more important is that you make the site work well and to convey your message in a good way, even for people that can’t see your images (that’s where ALT texts, etc, come into play).

    Thankyou for your help.
I have used redirection and the post has been served for a requested url. I just want to know that how google will treat that url as there’s two resources for a single url?

If it has the same URL, then to Google (and everyone else) it’s one and the same page.

If its one and the same page then what will google consider to rank that page. Contents in the page or image only???

Obviuosly, Google will consider whatever they receive when they visit that page.
