Image added in visual editor does not show on page

I am adding images on my pages using ‘Add Media’ from the Media Library. I did this successfully for a page and then for the next few pages, when i add the image, it shows in the visual editor but does not show on the page. If I add a caption to the page, the caption shows but the image does not. While I am not a programmer, I have been adding images to pages like this for a long time so not sure what is going wrong this time! I would appreciate any thoughts and ideas on this.
