• Countless times I’ve needed to update my customized calendar template because of the plugin’s updates… so, I need to keep always an old version or update ALL the time the plugin AND my template because the old references, the deprecated this or that… now I can’t see the location of the event and I’m wasting time looking for a solution… too bad guys, it was a really nice plugin

  • Hey there,

I know it’s been a few days since you left this review but I wanted to make sure I responded back to you personally to let you know we received it.

I can totally relate to the frustration you bring up here. As a developer myself, I’ve definitely been tagged with unexpected breakages when updating to the latest release of a component and it’s never a good thing, especially if it’s something you hit time and again.

We do run a fairly aggressive release schedule and I’m very sorry if that’s come at your expense in any way. Making updates does require us to break things from time-to-time but hopefully not with the level of frequency you’re describing.

Just out of curiosity, do you follow us on email, Twitter or our blog? We post notices of upcoming changes in those places and make an effort to communicate breaking changes in advance. The last thing we want to do is catch anyone off-guard–especially those with customizations to the calendar. I realize you’re already frustrated with our process, but I would certainly appreciate any feedback (or examples) you might have on how we could communicate or handle these changes better so we can avoid similar frustrations with others in the future.

Thanks in advance for any detail you’re willing to share with us here. I hope we can earn more stars from you in the future as we refine our process in a way that suits as many people as possible.

    Sincerely,
    Geoff

@ldv2k3 I’m in exactly the same boat as you. I’ve implemented customisation from MT’s own knowledgebase, only to have them break upon plugin update.

When I informed MT via their support forum of the most recent round of breakages – in the middle of January – and followed up on Feb 8th/9th that this had happened again I was told that they were on it and to expect an email when a knew KB article was out. That’s it.

Half-broken installation for almost 2 months.
