• Hello everyone.

A few days ago I registered https://www.wetravelandblog.com with godaddy and changed the DNS to point to my hostgator hosting, I then proceeded to install my framework and theme and make a whole bunch of edits and changes to get my website started.

I had no problems for two days, on day three, where I made the most changes, both from my computer and my boyfriend’s trying to figure out the ins and outs of our theme, all of a sudden the page times out trying to load and we cannot get access to anything on https://www.wetravelandblog.com, but everyone else everywhere in the world sees it fine..

If I bypass the proxies with something like pagewash I can access it no problem, but need to enter my username and password every time I need to edit something from my WP dash.

Every forum I’ve read points to a 24 hour ban from the host due to too many edits, but it has now been more than 24 hours and my host (hostgator) assures me my IP is not blacklisted or banned and tells me to check with my ISP. My ISP assures me the problem is not on their end either

does anyone have any idea what’s going on, where I trouble shoot further and which end to take the problem from. Please.

    Thank you

  • Have you tried restarting your router and modem? Also clearing your browser cache and cookies?

Looks like there is something going on with the DNS:

Do you use Cox as your ISP?

I have restarted my router and modem, I’ve cleared my chache and cookies. It’s not an issue with my computer. I have two laptops, and iphone, and a pc, all of them cannot access my site from home but none of them (pc not included) have any issues at my local cafe.

I understand nothing about DNS so the site you link to unfortunately doesn’t mean much to me except for show me a lot of pretty green checks and two ugly red crosses. I do not use Cox, I am in the dominican republic, my ISP is orange, or claro. I can’t remember.

It’s really not a WordPress issue if it works in other locations, but you could try flushing the DNS –

    https://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html

Beyond that, I’m not sure what to suggest except to persist with your ISP.

yes, I understand it’s not a wordpress issue, I come here in hopes someone has had this issue and has an answer.

according to the link you just sent me:
    Snow Leopard
If you are running Mac OS X 10.6, you need to do the following:
    Open up a command terminal.
    Run the command dscacheutil -flushcache

I need to run that command in terminal, when I do nothing happens. what am I doing wrong?

I am sorry but this really is not a WordPress issue, so we cannot help you. You need to seek support from your ISP or a Mac forum.
