I'm sure I've made a basic error!

One thing that I cannot find is where I should enter my contact details into Contact Form 7 and wonder if this is my problem?

At the point marked 6 in the screenshot above, enter the email address you want to receive emails at the To: field.

If that isn’t the problem, Please include all your input in the Form and Mail sections of the CF7 interface. If others here are able to understand your actual problem, they may be able to offer a possible solution.

That Contact Form 7 Interface screenshot shows an older version of CF7.

In CF7 4.3 the fields are similar, but located in 4 different tabs.

PS. Seems that these 4 tabs cause a lot of configuration issues because people are not seeing the mail window and if they find it, they are too confused what to enter in mail body because they don’t see the form any more. The list of available mail-tags on mail tab updates only after saving the complete form, so that’s even more confusing. :-/

@takayuki Miyoshi: Would suggest to revert the tab-layout to the previous one-page-layout.

I’m facing a similar issue, and I have been using cf7 for a while. Here are the facts so far:

1. I just added the plugin to a new website and integrated with mailchimp extension.
2. I created 3 forms so far. I’ve triple checked all setup fields. They all seem to work and ‘submit’ returns a success message when I test them. However:
a) I get no ‘mail’ (1 or 2);
b) Contact gets through to mailchimp;
c1) When I use a gmail as the test’s recipient, the message gets through. BUT, not the confirmation email, supposed to be delivered to my original account.
c2) When I use my other corporate email account as the test’s recipient, no message gets delivered.
What they have in common (and I’ve learned so far):
– Both my corporate accounts use google apps for business. I get no messages on them, whatsoever.
– My gmail (personal) account receives messages.

The only additional test I did was deactivating a mailchimp plugin I don’t need any longer – thought they might be conflicting, but it didn’t change a thing.

I’m out of ideas. (and I’m not very coding literate, I can only do very basic stuff)

Ok. Here is something worth sharing:

After @davmerit’s suggestion in another thread (many many thanks!! ?? ), I went to cf7 email issues and installed Postman SMTP mailer plugin.
The setup was quite cumbersome, it included generating API keys in Google Developers Console and a few steps with my hosting provider, but the step by step provided by the plugin’s developer is quite extensive and clear.

To sum up, everything works now.

@burtybaker, if you happen to use google apps for business as I do, this might solve your problem.

I see a response message “Your message was sent successfully” with green border, but I never receive a mail for that.

I’m just checking my e-mails having arrived home from work and am not sure how soon I will be able to work through your suggestions, but will certainly get back on here to explain my results.
I’m hoping that eventually I’ll become experienced enough myself to be able to pass on useful information to novices like I am at the moment!

Thank you all for your helpful suggestions. I have only found time to try a few of your ideas so far. I have deleted my original form, deleted the Contact 7 plug-in and then re-loaded Contact 7 (to get the latest version), and then followed the instructions to create & load my contact form.

Unfortunately this hasn’t changed anything.
I have also followed the advice of @davmerit and changed the e-mail address shown at location 6 in the instructions he pointed me towards to one of the addresses I have created for my website.(Although I felt that this looked like a return e-mail, not to have the contents of the contact form sent to me). Unfortunately this has not changed things for me either.
I will continue to work through everyone’s suggestions, and still feel that I am missing just one simple basic step in the setup which would ensure that when a contact form is filled in, this information is somehow collated and sent to me, but as I have so far been unable to find something like a location to enter an e-mail address where the contact form data should be set to, I am still at a loss.Thanks again to everyone who has made helpful suggestions so far, and thanks in advance to anyone who makes further suggestions.

@ov3rfly Thank you again for your help. I have entered a number of different e-mail addresses into the ‘To’ field as you have suggested at different times, but when I test my contact form, I receive nothing. I have used e-mail addresses that are set up with my hosting package (**@burtybaker.co.uk) and personal e-mail addresses too (**@btinternet.com) but still nothing comes to me!
Every time I look at this mail form it looks to me as if this is what I should use to reply to anyone who has contacted me through the Contact 7 form on my website, please confirm to me that I am wrong about this?

Did you read this yet? WordPress emails are sent but not received

Check that the SMTP server used does not violate the SPF rule for the domain, or that the SPF record is not missing. Also make sure your subject field is not empty. Make sure your From address is a valid user for the domain.

Why don’t you try installing the SMTP mailer plugin I mentioned above? I have now installed it to all my sites and it works flawlessly…
