Hi, I’ve started self-teaching myself WordPress to learn more about my department’s website since I’m the one who adds calendar requests. I wanted to update wording under each program under our programs tab, and I mistakenly removed some Read More blocks and can’t figure out how to add them back in and correct the program header text. Each program is under a header font and has a section of text that needs to be under the Read More block. The correct version is under All Programs – the A Matter of Balance section – and the other programs are the ones I mistakenly removed. I appreciate any help you can provide.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi sbelcher,

To add the “Read More” blocks back to your WordPress website, follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your WordPress Dashboard.
    2. Navigate to the “Programs” page in the Page Editor.
    3. Locate the text where the “Read More” blocks were removed.
    4. Insert the “More” tag at the appropriate place in your content.
    5. Update or publish the page to save your changes.

Repeat these steps for each section where the “Read More” blocks were removed. If you need further assistance, feel free to ask.

    Best regards,

Thank you, I appreciate it. Is there any way to clarify this even further? I move the “More” tag to the appropriate place and it ends up at the bottom of the page. I also can’t figure out how to view where the “Read More” blocks were to begin with.
Edited: is it something to do with the code page? Would the “visual editor” help more than the “code edit” for me to see it?

I did something else, where I fixed the code, though I don’t know how to reinstall the “Read More” block for each program. The “A Matter of Balance” section under “All Programs” is still correct, though everything else is not. Thank you in advance.

I also tried to update a plug-in and got the “White Screen of Death: along with “There has been a critical error on this website. Please check your site admin email inbox for instructions.” I don’t believe I’m the site admin, and I sent an email to our developer who created our website + our IT department.

Regarding the issue with adding “Read More” blocks, if the “More” tag isn’t functioning correctly, it may be due to how your theme or plugins handle excerpts. Try manually inserting a “Read More” link using the visual editor instead. If issues persist, consider consulting your theme documentation or seeking assistance from a developer.

As for the “White Screen of Death” error after updating a plugin, this typically indicates a critical error, often plugin or theme related. Since you’re not the site admin, it’s best to wait for guidance from your developer or IT department. In the meantime, you can try deactivating the recently updated plugin by renaming its folder via FTP or your hosting provider’s file manager.
