• Hello-

Peculiar problem here on my www.remarpro.com blog, hosted through BlueHost. My blog URL is www.deekadelic.com

A few of my readers have been getting emails that say:

“Don’t forget to check out DEEKADELIC.COM’s most recent updates. Plus support DEEKADELIC.COM with a vote”, and there’s a little thumbs-up icon next to it with the word “Vote” on it.

If you click on the link that says "<a href="www.deekadelic.com">Don't forget to check out DEEKADELIC.COM's most recent updates. Plus support DEEKADELIC.COM with a vote", it takes you to my blog</a>; but if you click on the thumbs-up icon, it takes you to <a href="https://www.userbase.com/node/[email protected]&access_token=Vk8Ke_wIhPHzgCAaxVksWhpF600zpe1ziA5fcqeG2LA">this screen</a>.

I’m not sure what the significance of this UserBase window is, or what commenting on it will cause to happen. Therefore my curious users are reluctant to comment, though they would like to support my blog.

    Does anybody know about this?

    Thank you.

Is this maybe left over from the same topic you posted 5 months ago?

What is This “Join Our UserBase” Window That Won’t Stop Popping Up?

No, this is a different issue.

The earlier issue, which remains resolved ever since the associated thread was closed, was about a maddening pop-up that would not allow you to navigate the site in any way. Since that time I have not even once thought about UserBase, as it hasn’t had any presence in my life whatsoever.

The issue now is that people have started getting emails that purport to be giving them the opportunity to support me with some kind of a “vote”; but a vote for what? And where is that information reflected? And how do I know who is voting for me, whatever that even means?

Since nobody (including me) knows what the hell UserBase is or does, nobody is willing to click on the link and follow it wherever it leads, even though for all any of us know it would be safe and helpful for my blog stats to do so.

So that’s what I’m trying to get to the bottom of; but I haven’t been successful at finding any information which would sufficiently explain it.

Which plugins do you have active?

How are you so certain the recent issue is not related to the past issue?

Do you recognize the name ethan close or [email protected] ?

    Have you seen https://www.userbase.com or https://www.userbase.com/node/21653 or https://www.userbase.com/users/deek-speredelozzi ?

To me they seem to indicate deek speredelozzi somehow joined userbase.com 3 months ago …

I’m not certain the issues are not related, but I am sure that they are different issues. But the current issue did not exist then, and the old issue does not exist now.

But I don’t see how this could be a plug-in issue. It’s having no effect on the performance of my blog, or my experience with it- it’s strictly about the legitimacy (or illegitimacy) of UserBase (whatever it is), the emails my readers are getting about it (albeit very few of the readers), and the significance (and/or safety) of “voting”, as directed by the link.

Oh and, somehow I botched the link on my original post in this thread. This is the screen you get to when you click the link.
