• Hi everyone,

I’m very new to the WordPress world and just launched a website over this past weekend. I have published a number of posts already, but I just noticed that while viewing the website in my browser (and others’ browsers), I am not able to click into individual posts to read the whole thing.

    My site: https://www.nyctrains.today

Any insights into what this issue could be would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

  • Hi,

I’ve just visited your site, and I’m able to click on and read your posts. Can you be a little more specific about the steps you’re taking, whether or not you’re using any assistive technology such as a screen reader or magnifier, and where on your site you’re encountering the problem?

    Thanks,

    Amanda

    Hi Amanda,

The specific problem I am having is i am unable to click on the “Read more…” link within each post, which would take me to a new tab. In general, I am unable to read each post in a separate window. Each post as is is only available in excerpt form on my website.

    Does that make more sense?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

A lot of this depends on your theme, but typically, themes are not coded to open “read more” links in a new tab or window. If a user chooses, they can shift-left-click and open in new window, or right-cick and open in new tab, but WordPress themes don’t typically force what, in essence, is an internal link, to open in a new tab or window. If you really want to do this, you will need to post in one of the other forums here on www.remarpro.com to receive assistance with customizing your theme. This forum is for questions related to web accessibility as it relates to WordPress, themes and plugins, for both developers and users.

    Hope that helps,

    Amanda

There is a plugin (I think) adding a transparent overlay to your entire site, preventing you and your users from being able to click on anything. Looks like the it’s coming from AFS Analytics, maybe.

Yes! I did just download AFS Analytics this morning, which is when the issue started happening. Is there a way to keep AFS while also being able to click through on my site?

I dismantled AFS Analytics and the issue is resolved. Thank you for letting me know!
