I’m confused Re: changing e-mail address

    I can log into my WordPress admin panel using my password plus my username OR my GMail address.

    I would like to replace my GMail address with one of my personal site addresses.

    So I went into Settings > General Settings and changed my administrative address to the personal site address. However, I can still log in to my admin panel with my GMail address – but not my personal address.

    I just read an article that says you can get a plugin that will will allow you to change usernames. But how can you change log-in email addresses? It’s hard to search for information, because most resources appear to focus on ADMINISTRATIVE e-mail addresses. (Dumb question, but what is an administrative e-mail address, anyway? Does that just mean that anyone who has a question for me will somehow find that address and contact me?)

  • The administrative e-mail address is one e-mail address that your WordPress installation uses to notify the owner of the site about important things relating to the site.

    Log-in e-mail addresses are used by your installation (in addition to logging in) to inform the owner of a particular ACCOUNT about important things affecting that account.

    Go to https://example.com/wp-admin/ (replace example.com with your own domain name).
    Then go to users.
    Choose your own profile.
    You will be able to edit the e-mail address associated with your account there.
    Please note that you will first need to confirm the change of e-mail address by clicking on a link in a verification e-mail your installation will send to you, for security reasons, before the e-mail address will change.
