• When I log into my WHM Cpanel, I see a banner written about WP Guardian as a cPanel Addon doing virtual patching from Patchstack. Wuu! I saved the setting and entered into my WHM account, however, it seems like a purchased product from cPanel. So I want to learn more.

Fast forward, I also see a Patchstack downloadable WP and plugins security in add plugin section of my wordpress menu, and now I’m confused :(.

Are these the same product? If I’m using Wordfence, do I need also need this solution?

  • Hi Ron – many hosting & WP management tools use Patchstack’s vulnerability API to alert their users, and some (like WP Guardian) also include our virtual patching protection module.

If you sign up for Patchstack separately, you get free vulnerability alerts on up to 10 sites, with an option to enable different protection modules, including the main “virtual patching” one per-site cost basis. Our paid plans also include all the protection modules, plus some additional security measures.

Basically having a Patchstack account gives you access to our whole platform, not only vuln alerts and protection.

Btw you can use Patchstack and Wordfence together without issues. I’d recommend Patchstack to cover the vulnerability threat though – as the biggest vuln research contributor we have the fastest info about new vulnerabilities, and about 7,000+ vuln specific virtual patch rules to protect against them.
