And I’m trying to figure out how to install plugins…I installed WP successfully and easily because my webhost is BlueHost.com, and they had the Fantastico De Luxe ready to install at my command…

I will need to upgrade it to latest version 2.3.3

Should I do that first before I install any plugins?…I’ll need some help with that, as I don’t know which location in my cPanel I should upload it to…

That’s my problem with uploading, installing, and activating plugins…I have no idea where to put them once I download them…

I want to install the “Sidebar Widgets” plugin, but from what I’ve read, my 2.3.2 already has it…Where do I find it and activate it, and any other plugins that came with my version???

Any help would be appreciated…I know my cPanel well, and have built many websites in my time, but this is all new to me…TIA

You’ll want to use FTP (or any functionality provided by Cpanel) to upload the plug-ins (unzipped) to the plugins folder (inside wp-content).

Once you have uploaded the plugins, you can go to the Plugins tab in your Admin interface to activate the plugins.

You can use the widgets functionality by going to the Presentation tab and going to the Widgets sub-tab (presuming your selected template supports widgets.)

Thanks transom!…That should be enough information to get me started on the right path…I have found the plugins folder in my cPanel under:

    public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/

I also found the Presentation and Plugins tab in my Admin area, so now I know what I’m looking for…

So far, I only have “askimet” and “hello.php” in my Plugins tab…I just found the Presentation tab, and my current theme is WordPress Default 1.6

Does that one support a lot of the recent plugins, or should I look for a newer theme?…

I appreciate your help on this topic…

Plugins that provide additional functionality for your visitors are likely to require changes to the template, but generally, the plugin authors are good about providing examples and help with modifying your theme.

Many other plugins add functionality for the administrator.

Ideally you’ll be looking to add some feature to your web site – then looking through https://wp-plugins.org will show you a number of possibilities.
