Illegal string offset w/ PHP 7.1?

    I am getting an “Illegal string offset” at “\wwwroot\wp-content\plugins\connections\includes\settings\class.settings-api.php on line 1113” with the latest version of the plugin and php 7.1. Can you help me fix the problem?
