Illegal Message but only when Cart is empty?

Hi. I’ve downloaded the plugin and am delighted with its functions. I thought everything was working fine until I emptied my Cart and a message appeared in the Bar. The message is

<b>Warning</b>: Illegal string offset ‘default’ in <b>/home/candycab/public_html/wp-content/plugins/woo-free-shipping-bar/woo-free-shipping-bar.php</b> on line <b>270</b><br />
Warning: Illegal string offset \’default\’ in /home/candycab/public_html/wp-content/plugins/woo-free-shipping-bar/woo-free-shipping-bar.php on line 270”
I deleted the message and saved, but when I go back into the settings, the message reappears.
The plugin works fine when there is something in the Cart, but if the Cart is empty (which most visitors will have initially), this message is displayed.
Do you have a solution available please so I can reactivate this plugin?
I am using WordPress Version 5.3.2 and Version 1.1.3.8 of your Plugin.
