[ik_fb_feed] not working

Hey Tony!

To Fail on the second step means either that your API Key and Secret Key are no longer valid (ie, there is a bad character input or something happened on the Facebook end of things) or that something with your server is prevent Curl requests.

If you haven’t done anything, something like a database import/export, any recent server maintenance, or other such things could cause an issue.

If you want to share with me your APP ID and Secret Key, send me an e-mail at [email protected]. I can check and see if they function for me or if they give me the same trouble.

Hi Richard,

I just tested a different plugin called Feed Them Social. It shows Facebook posts ok. It does not use the app id and secret key though, just optionally the access token (I have used mine and it claimed it was ok).

Thanks for letting me know!

I will look into some potential changes we can make to avoid needing App ID’s and Secrets — depending on the level of integration you are doing with Facebook, they aren’t needed in all scenarios.

How did you go about generating an access token without the keys?

Hi Richard,

At the Facebook developers website, you select your app. Then there is a dropdown menu “Tools” at the top. Under that menu is a menu item “Access Token Debugger” which you click on. Then there is an “App Token” of the form “123456789012345|abcd123xyz”, where the first half before | is the App ID. I used the (full) App Token in Feed Them Social, the plugin verified it as OK and it seems to work.

Did you happen to figure anything out Richard?

Unfortunately, your plugin now renders parts of my Simple:Press forum inop. I had someone look at it and this is what he had to say…(he was troubleshooting the inop sp admin panel)

“facebook plugin throwing js errors… Its the IK Facebook Plugin… Not sure why its doing js thins on the admin side, but its throwing errors…

Verified this by deactivating the plugin and then uploading the plupload plugin via the sp admin pages… all the admin works fine with the facebook plugin deactivated…. did not activate file uploader (plupload) but its there now…

so what is that facebook plugin doing? not sure, but my guess would be hijacking the ajax responses and trying to run some js that is failing… again,not sure what it is even trying to do in the admin…I reactivated the IK Facebook Plugin, but it will give you admin issues again…”

Hey Kim!

The response from your developer doesn’t make any sense. Our javascript initializes a Color Picker and a Date Picker — there is no hijacking of any AJAX ?? Kind of an assuming response, really.

That being said, I’m very sorry you are having issues. There are no errors that appear in our testing environments of the Javascript, if the developer would kindly pass along what the error is I would happily look at it.

Regardless, the javascript is unrelated to the issue reported in this thread — the issue in this thread is about Access Tokens and connecting to the Graph API.

A javascript issue would only prevent other javascript from working, and that would only happen on the backend as that is the only place our plugin has any javascript.

I hope that makes sense and clears things up! If you continue to have issues, please open a separate thread as I believe your issue is not related to this thread.

As you might recall, I originally wrote regarding the current issue with my Feed that the others are experiencing. I too, came up with

FAIL PRO Features Unlocked

using the Free Option. Did you find a resolution?

Also, I do get this message: Warning: This plugin has not been tested with your current version of WordPress.

I am using version 2.9.1. and WordPress 4.1.

I listed the information about the forum conflict under this thread because I thought maybe the two issues were related. Sorry if that information is misplaced.

I would appreciate any assistance because I have not found a better Facebook plugin!

wordpress 4.0
IK FB 2.8 (free version)

and

IK FB 2.9.1 (free version)

both sites same errors:

Has anyone discovered the issue with the Feed? Can you let me know if there are plans to resolve this problem? I really did like this plugin and I hate to not be able to use it anymore.

Please give us a heads-up on what to expect, even if to say plans are not in the works to update anymore.

We have not identified the issue that is affecting specific App ID and Secret Key combos. While the users who have reported issues do appear to have something affecting them, it is not affecting all users (including our own website at goldplugins.com).

We are investigating to determine what is causing halls issue, but nothing appears obviously broken on our end. I will update this thread next week with a better way forward for you.

I appreciate everyone’s patience with this; I know what a problem this is for some users!

Here’s one more to add to the list. Version 2.9.1 is not working on our site https://www.fairchicago.org, either. It was working fine up until recently. We’ve made no changes on the WordPress side (other than updating the plugin to the most current version to see if it would fix the problem) or on the FB side. Please update ASAP. Thanks
