Ignore feature does not work

    I’m attempting to bulk-smush my website. There are a bunch of PDFs that it cannot smush. But every time I click ignore and retry, it just attempts to smush the same files again. It seems that the ignore is failing. When I open Chrome Dev Tools, I see an “admin-ajax.php” call with this payload: “action=ignore_bulk_image&id=7034&_ajax_nonce=32faec0fbe”. But the response is always “{“success”:false}”. Is the ignore functionality broken?

    Bulk Smush does not process PDF files, please confirm if the attachment ID 7034 is a PDF file.

    Yes, it is a PDF file. The message I got was something like, “There are X uncompressed files. Process them in 3 batches.” How do I process them in batches if Smush does not automatically skip files that it doesn’t support anyway? Maybe I’m confused about what the message means and it’s processed everything possible! Please advise.

    Hi @rajivraman,

    As stated before, Smush by default won’t compress the PDF files and will skip it out of the box. If the PDF files are getting listed on the Smush side for compressing then it would mean there are some settings in the websites which are changing the behaviour of the attachments and hence getting picked on the Smush available for compression.

    To rule out whether it’s a site-specific issue, could you please run a conflict test and see whether the PDF file gets picked in Smush if you temporarily disable all the plugins except Smush and with a default WP theme?

    The above step will help in ruling out what might be causing the issue so that we can check further if needed.

    Would recommend you to perform the above steps in a staging site.
