Ignore Categories

Is it possible to short code calendars, archives, lists, etc to display all categories except certain ones?

So instead of having to list all the categories I do want, like so:
[events_calendar full=”0″ long_events=”1″ categories=”1, 2, 3, 4″]

I list the ones that I don’t want?
