if…else question for the_excerpt

  • Hi all,

    Just a quick question about the_excerpt

    I want to show the_excerpt with the_content so I can tailor the_excerpt with a unique intro to the_content but I want to hide the_excerpt if there is no the_excerpt.

    Can I do that with an if…else? If so how would I?

  • I dont know about that.. the_excerpt is automatically populated, if you dont put your own text in.

    You would probably be better off using some sort of custom field.

    Oh ok. I found this plugin – Fancy Excerpt which give the auto-generated excerpt a brek-off at full sentence. Not what I wanted but works as a nice lead-in to the article if styled.
