If You're Blind, don't Bother
-
I needed a plugin that would allow folks to subscribe to my blog, as well as to email my posts. I hoped MailPoet would do the job, but the accessibility to screenreaders is abysmal, especially when attempting to creat forms. Fields are not clearly labeled, at times elements do not expose their attributes to the screenreader, some elements seem to be represented by nothing but weird unicode characters, i.e. 61713, dropdown lists appear not to be accessible via keyboard, etc. Bear in mind I’m not the type who can’t find their way around in a paper bag, much less WordPress. I’ve hosted WordPress sites for 4 years, & I contribute both in the accessibility & support forums.
Perhaps this is a good plugin if you can see. If not, save yourself the headache & don’t bother. As for me, I’m off to take some Ibuprofen–& to try to find something else that will allow sight-impaired individuals equal access.
I hope someday I can update this review & give this plugin 5 * because the authors did the right thing & made it usable by all. One can always hope.
