I understand the difference between custom fields(best for manipulating the data) and custom terms(best for querying posts with that data). But for arguements sake let’s say I need to both manipulate AND query the data equally AND had to choose EITHER custom fields or custom terms… what would you choose?

    No fence sitters ??

    Thanks, Pete

  • Sorry to trample your fence ?? but I disagree with your “best for” criteria. A field can contain data. A term is just a flag, true or false — each post either has it or doesn’t have it. If there’s data to be manipulated, then it sounds like a field to me. Unless the data can only have certain values…then it could be a taxonomy — a whole set of terms.

CTs are best for queries end of story…

I’m going for CTs as even though i’m showing the data within the post I am also using it to query the posts. For the most part the CTs will have a defined number of values too.
