If you do not want customers' to use a plugin isn't it simpler to delete it?
-
Question:
This might be a stupid question, but if you do not want clients’ to use
a plugin isn’t it simpler to delete it?Answer:
Deleting a plugin may delete the settings. For example, if you have bought a number of premium plugins, and for security reasons need to upgrade them, but just don’t have the time today, The Hack Repair Guy’s Plugin Archiver is a safe solution.
In a busy world, it’s easier to archive than delete then have to hunt down and re-install later.
On the flip side, I have a number of utility plugins I don’t use day-to-day, like WP Migrate, Velvet Blues Update URLs, Adminer, Duplicator and MiwoFTP. For security reasons, I would rather not leave these sorts of plugins installed in the normal location.
Tempt fate much! And then there is testing.
What if you need two versions of the same plugin installed for testing. You can do this with The Hack Repair Guy’s Plugin Archiver. Archive old, test new, then reverting back quickly if/when things go south, all without affecting database tables, etc.And the list goes on…
Enjoy!
