• I’ve done a search and found similar topics, but none of the answers seemed to work for me. I’ve set all the permissions correctly (I’m pretty sure), but I am still unable to use the Theme Editor. Yes, I can use my FTP program, but I would like to have the option of using the Theme Editor. Any thoughts? If you need more information, let me know. Thanks in advance. ??

  • Hello

If you want to edit a theme file via the WP control panel you need to make sure it’s permissions are writable.

You can do this with your FTP software.

Log into your server and locate the theme file you wish to edit via the CP and right click it and choose “permissions”, or it could be “chmod” (it depends on what FTP you are using) there may even be more names, but these are the 2 I have heard.

Then make sure it is set to 666, which means to set all the write and read options to true.

    Hope this helps. ??

Well, shoot! I did that, but now the theme is under “Broken Themes”, and it says “file not readable” (pertaining to the .css file). ??

Got a link to your site?
