I installed UpdraftPlus a while ago and wanted to set up a backup to OneDrive or to my DropBox this week. I didn’t finish the installation because I realized I need Updraft Premium for that. In the meantime I decided against Updraft and wanted to deactivate and delete the plugin. As soon as I deactivate the plugin, my website runs into a critical error and is no longer accessible. Together with my hoster we found a message stating that the plugin installation was faulty. As recommended, I deleted the plugin anyway and installed a new zip file. The problem remains. We also tried to use an older updraft version. The critical error remains. In addition, Updraft made daily backups with my hoster, which I did not set up. I want to remove Updraft from my installation and I need your help.

Unfortunately I don’t remember when exactly I installed the plugin to go back to a backup before.

I also tried deleting the plugin in different ways, e.g. via the backend of my hoster (WP Space).

    Please support us.

    Hi,

Looking at the log, it appears that it has something to do with modsecurity. Can you ask your host to disable and see if issue persists?

    Thanks,
    Bryle

    Hi Bryle,

I contacted my hoster. He had already disabled this setting because he saw the error log. Unfortunately didn’t help. In the meantime I have imported a backup because I could no longer keep the state. Updraft also created additional backups with large amounts of data in the background, which I could not influence. The plugin is out via the recovery.

    regards, Anna

@annamariabreil – can you try installing a fresh copy of the plugin (I realise you have said you have done this). When you are installing it, click “Replace current version with uploaded version”)

Can you then go to the Advanced tools tab and wipe your settings before deinstalling, then deleting the plugin.

You are likely still getting backups because you still have the backup schedule in your DB (wipe your settings should remove this)

No, I will never install the plugin again. I had to struggle to catch the data loss because I had to import a backup from a week ago to get rid of the plugin. I’m sorry.

Apologies that you did not have a good experience with the plugin, is there anything further I can help you with?

No problem. Sometimes the technical constellation just doesn’t fit.
