If it sounds too good to be true . . .

This plugin looked amazing from the online reviews I saw. A migration tool that only takes a few simple steps and does all those tedious, time-sucking little tweaks for you? Unfortunately, this was not the case for me. And, as I see from the support page, many other people, as well. My problem, like many others, was that the import would hang indefinitely on the final step of restoring the database. I contacted the developers, who suggested a few fixes such as turning off maintenance mode and opening the site up in a different tab while it’s still stuck. This last suggestion, which doesn’t sound like the best workaround, did get closer to a full migration. However, I was still missing all of my posts, pages, and many of my settings in my plugins. Considering the time it will take for me to make those corrections, I just can’t see the benefit of using the plugin over simply doing a manual install.
I really like this plugin up to the point where it breaks down. The UI is simple, and, the makers are very ambitious to take on an all-in-one migration tool. I hope in the future they manage to correct this major flaw. I would love to have a plugin like this once all the bugs are worked out.
PS. If the developers wold post their solutions on the forum, rather than just saying “resolved” followed by no other information, I’m sure it would help many people considerably.
