• I really like your platform. This question / suggestion is about the auto insertion of the title and alt tags for the image gallery.

    In the WP Property plugin update version 1.17 you “Added automatically generated ALT and TITLE to sidebar widgets for improved image SEO.” At the time and for those who do not manually insert image tags it might be considered helpful.

    For those of us who do our best to follow SEO best practice hwoever, automatically inserting the property title into each of the image titles and alt tags in the sidebar is not helpful – particularly for the images that we have manually inserted our own title and alt tags.

    Is it possible to edit your ‘auto insertion’ of the property title into those tags, so that it would only insert it into the image tags if nothing was already in the image title and alt tags? It might be “If null” insert post title?

    Thank you.

    I think you can override the default result by editing the image item via the WordPress Media Library. Try changing the title and alternative text of the media item via the Media Library Edit screen.

    Eric – thank you for the reply back, but it still over rides the manual / update image tags….

    I’ll post an example shortly – have to take a call.

    Hello,jimii

    Waiting for your example in which case that is happening.

    Maria, thank you for the follow up and for waiting on this.

    I’ll add clarity to my original post.

    When the Title and ALT tags for images are empty WPP auto fills both fields with the property title – which is fine for those who don’t complete the tags.

    However when you insert a title tag WPP also appends the page title to the title field and it auto fills the ALT tag with the title tag as well. This happens even when you insert a different alt tag and this shouldn’t happen.

    When someone inserts a caption – the caption overrides everything and is placed in the Title and the ALT Tag – but thankfully however it doesn’t append the page title.
    The information inserted into the caption field should not override the Title and ALT tags.

    If not clear, I can put this in a table and email it to make it more clear.

    Can you give me steps how can I replicate your issue. In my case it doesn’t overwrite image options.

    I created a sample property https://www.islandrealestate.com/view/a-sample-property-with-3-images/ – its on the live site so i password protected it: 123

    I wont want to leave it there forever – if you could let me know once you’ve seen what you need.

    4 images in the sample that reflect in the “view source”

    1st image does not have the title, alt or caption completed – result below

    2nd has the Title and Alt Completed as “Image Title Tag 2 and “ALT tag 2” – result below

    3rd has the Title and ALT completed plus a Caption as “Image Title Tag 3” and “ALT tag 3” and “Caption for 3rd Image” – result below

    4th has just an ALT tag inserted as “Just the ALT Tag” but you’ll see in the source code simply “” meaning the ALT tag doesn’t function at all – except to duplicate content that might be in the caption or title tag. – result below

    They produced the following:
    1st Image title=” – A Sample Property with 3 images”
    alt=””
    class=”wpp_gallery_widget_image size-thumbnail “
    width=”195″
    height=”130″/>

    2nd Image title=”Image Title Tag 2 – A Sample Property with 3 images”
    alt=”Image Title Tag 2″
    class=”wpp_gallery_widget_image size-thumbnail “

    3rd Image: title=”Caption for 3rd Image”
    alt=”Caption for 3rd Image”
    class=”wpp_gallery_widget_image size-thumbnail “
    4th Image
    title=” – A Sample Property with 3 images”
    alt=””
    class=”wpp_gallery_widget_image size-thumbnail “
    thank you.

    Hello.

    I have found what are you talking about. We will try to resolve that in the next release.

    If you could keep that property as example for few weeks that will be also helpful.

    Regards.
