In version 7.0.6 we started enforcing the plugin’s licensing model: with the Free edition of the plugin you can only add CATPCHA checks to WordPress native forms. This shortcode allows users to add CAPTCHA to custom forms and was left in the Free edition by mistake. So in this update we removed it from the Free edition.

However, not to disrupt your website’s operations we can give you a 90-day free license so you can continue using the code and in the meantime decide how you’d like to proceed.

If I understand correctly: what worked before and was free was a mistake and now you have to pay a license to have the same thing as before.
What is the price of this license?
What is the interest for me to pay a license in 90 days when it works very well with the previous version?

To answer your second question: technology changes and evolves, WordPress and all the plugins keep getting better and more secure, so it is not recommended to use outdated / older version of any plugin, WordPress, or any other software.
