IE9 Display and Slide Issues

I have 2 IE9-related issues. It looks and works great in all other Browsers (so far).

The first: On our front page, a separate black box displays below the slider, which throws off our design.

The second issue: After the first slide, the subseqent slides jump up so high that only the captions appear at the top of the page, overlaying the other design elements.

I know in another thread you mentioned removing the outside container from the Plugin, which I thought might solve this. Which file(s) do I edit to remove that outer container (or what divs can I edit to specify a height and width, as was suggested in that thread as well?)?
