• I’m having a problem where Internet Explorer users cannot comment on my blog (www.kduck.net) … I use Firefox, so it is not a problem. However, when an IE user clicks on the link, it either 1) doesn’t open the link or 2) Does not let them type in the comment box … I made some cosmetic changes to my blog last night but nothing major. What could be the problem?

    Everyone’s help is appreciated!

  • Yep, comments now “work”. Throw back in the sidebar, fix the incorrect br tag and lets figure out what is wrong in the sidebar. Incidentally, it is not just the comments, you cannot select any text or click any links in the main content area.

    And your page is valid XHTML without the sidebar ??

    ok, sidebar’s back

    So is the problem. Let’s look at the CSS. There is at least one error there, too:

    h3
    border-bottom: 1px dotted #ccc;
    font-family: Verdana, Arial, Palatino, Sans-Serif;
    margin-top: 0;
    }

    Ok, I added the ‘{‘

    Well, that wasn’t it. Perhaps it is the way you have positioned the sidebar in the css. Hopefully one of the CSS gurus will take a looksee. I haven’t seen too many set with a -250px top margin.

    I am having a similar problem with my “Pages”
    Example: https://www.beyourowndetective.com/blog/?page_id=7
    No place to add your comments. This is however working fine on my main blog page: https://www.beyourowndetective.com/blog
    However you have to click on the “no comments” link to get an add your comments form.

    We could all quit using MSIE and use Mozilla to work around these bugs personally for ourselves, but this does not address the problem for all the other millions of users around the World who are using MSIE. This is a known bug that needs to be fixed.

    ND, you “problem” is absolutely NOT related to the OP.
    Your blog is working exactly as intented:
    – on Pages there are no comments
    – on main/index.php the comments are never displayed just a link to them
    – the comment form is visible on the singlle post view

    That’s a standard blog behaviour. What’s your problem?

    There’s no problem. I’m new to blogs.

    What is the intended purpose of the pages if there are no comments there?

    Initially it was intended for “static” content, like AboutUs, Contact etc.

    My intention was to create multiple blogs under one WordPress installation, but it looks like I am using it the wrong way. I was attempting to use the Pages as new blogs.

    Multiple blogs under one installation?
    Risking to hijack this thread – NO.
    Before using WP it’s always a good idea to go here:
    Getting_Started_with_WordPress
    If you want multiple blogs, you are in the wrong place. Go https://mu.www.remarpro.com

    So how about getting back to the problem of the OP?

    So should I fix that -250 px? I love my design, and that would suck to have to get rid of it.

    WordPress Multiuser Edition looks like the perfect solution but I might want to wait. It’s currently unstable.

    No I think you can save your design, but not necessarily the way you have it. There are some CSS gurus around the will, hopefully, step in and help you out. As for me, “tweak and test” is still how I do everything. As a test, maybe remove the negative margin and I can test if that is the issue.

    Netdetective, I was being nice earlier about getting back to the OP’s issue. Now get lost.
