• Apparently there is a problem with IE and my website. I use the Classic theme which I modified for my own use.

With IE, the text in the posts start to slide to the left. The blockquote box remains in place altho its text slides too. Screenshots can be found here: https://paulaoffutt.com/blog/ie-information/

That page is set up so that the sidebar does not appear.

I recently loaded up the site in the Gila theme, a theme I used before. In that one, the text slides over too, but not nearly as much.

I will gladly share my CSS file.

Any ideas how to fix this?

  • It seems to me as though you changed a great deal of the classic theme. You must have changed the horizontal positioning and /or width of elements in the body. Re-check these carefully.

Are you running Windows? There is no easy way of fixing this unless you run Internet Explorer and then modify the CSS to see the results. If the problem was associated with just a single element, that would be simpler. From what I can tell, based the screenshots, there are many visual inconsistencies. No single statement/change would do the trick and the ability to reproduce the errors by working on a local copy of your page is poor.

Then again, someone else might be able to invest much more time in this.

    Sch,
if you don’t have an answer, don’t make up empty BS theories ??
This is a well known issue with a lot of themes in IE. It was posted several times and the solution is also in multiple places:

Briefly: add a border-bottom to your blockquote’s style.

Thanks Moshu! On the first link you provided, I found another link to another site that addressed this issue and several others. I added a bottom border to the blockquote and viola! It’s fixed.

And yeah, schestowitz, I modified the theme a lot. I thought at first it was something I had done until I saw it was happening in other themes as well.

Oh, and Moshu, I considered doing a search but wasn’t sure what to search for. So thanks!

moshu, you’re right in this case. I didn’t intend for it to be BS though. No hard feelings, I hope. *smile*

holyroller, glad you got this sorted. I am very new to this forum, so I failed to spot a common issue. All the best.
